Mission & Principles

The mission of the Denton Community Market is to strengthen the Denton community by providing economic opportunities for local artists, businesses, food vendors, and food producers to contribute to the vitality and livability of Denton.

Values:

  • provide a setting in which community members can purchase local products from local producers
  • provide educational opportunities to learn about the products made and grown in our community
  • promote the local economy by connecting food producers and consumers
  • reduce barriers to entry for new entrepreneurs and small businesses
  • promote sustainable farmer practices and environmental stewardship while educating the public about these practices, and
  • strengthen ties between community members by creating a sense of place.

About Denton Community Market

The Denton Community Market is a 501c3 producer-only farmer’s market and art market in downtown Denton, Texas. The Market began in April of 2010 and features live music, kids activities, local farms, local artists, food trucks, food vendors and more! Bring the family and friends and experience the best of Denton, Texas!

Want to become a Denton Community Market vendor?!

VENDOR APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR 2018!

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR MARKET VENDORS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES/ORGANIZATIONS!
Applications require $25 Application Fee.
  • All Vendors should read the 2018 Vendor Handbook for rules, guidelines, and important information about the Denton Community Market.
  • Vendor applications are accepted throughout the market season.
  • If you are an agricultural producer, or producer of handmade items and local products, then submit the Market Vendor Application.
  • If you are a nonprofit organization, local business offering activities, or freelance artist, then submit the Business/Organization Application.

Rules & Requirements

  • The Denton Community Market is a producer-only market. A producer-only market is defined as a market in which all items sold/offered are grown/produced by the producer of the product.
  • The Denton Community Market is a local market. Only products created within a 100-mile radius of Denton are allowed for sale. *Limited exceptions granted on a case-by-case basis for agricultural products that are not available locally. See ‘Farmers & Growers’ section of the handbook for more info.
  • Resell of items is not allowed.
  • Distributor products like Scentsy, Origami Owl, It Works, etc. are not allowed.
  • Items with purchased elements must be “significantly transformed” from their original state to be eligible for sale at Market.
  • The Market does not allow the sale of firearms, ammunition, fireworks, or other hazardous items (determined on a case by case basis).
  • All vendors with taxable items must have a valid Texas Sales Tax ID number to participate in the Market.
  • Sales Tax ID numbers can be obtained online here.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Market! Being a volunteer is fun! There’s volunteer opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. We would love your help!

To volunteer at the Market complete the Volunteer at the Market online form and select the days you can commit to volunteer

Market Day Tasks

  • set up / take down Market info booth
  • set up / take down visitor seating
  • assist Market staff
  • set up on-site signage and flags and cones
  • help vendors unload items and set up

Calling Denton Musicians!

The Denton Community Market provides an outdoor stage with regular visitors that enjoy a variety of live music performances every Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm, April – November.

Performers begin playing at the top of the hour (9 am – 12 pm). Performances end at 1 pm.

We currently offer our performers a stipend and the opportunity to sell their music and/or merchandise. Performers at the Denton Community Market receive:
  • Stipend paid after your performance.
  • Live radio time on DentonRadio.com, Live Streaming on the DentonRadio.com Facebook Page and at the Discover Denton Welcome Center on the Square.
  • Opportunities to promote your music
  • You may place a tip jar near visitor seating
