DETAILS
Juneteenth is a celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Union soldiers landed at Galveston, Texas, with news that the war was over and that the enslaved were now free. Denton has celebrated Juneteenth annually since 1891. Previous celebrations may have occurred but were not recorded.
Meet up at Fred Moore Park for a live celebration with special guest artists, youth talent show, and so much more.
