DBFF is here again to lift black voices

It's time to get ready for the 2023 Denton Black Film Festival. This year's programming includes in person and virtual movie screenings, panels, music, spoken word, comedy, and art. Immerse yourself Jan. 25th-29th at various venues around Denton. Can't get enough? #DBFF23 includes screenings spanning every genre from narrative features and documentaries, to music videos and comedy. Explore the full listing of this year's offerings to get a taste of what is available and piques your interest. The festival has even compiled a film guide of must sees including '#BlackatSMU', '150 Degress of Resiliency', '1872 Forward Foreward', and 'Afrikan by the way of America'. A VIP All Experience Pass includes the following:

  • ACCESS to ALL IN PERSON: Early Seating (must arrive at least 15 minutes before)
    • and ALL VIRTUAL FESTIVAL EXPERIENCES Exceptions: In Person Festival- Any designated Special Workshops or Panels ; Virtual Festival- Films with geographic restrictions and audience caps.

Film ONLY Experience Pass includes: 

  • ACCESS to ALL IN PERSON and VIRTUAL FILM SCREENINGS: In Person: Early Seating (must arrive at least 15 minutes before) - VIRTUAL SCREENINGS Exceptions: Films with geographic restrictions and audience caps.
  • Invitation to Special Pre-Festival Virtual meeting to share festival happenings, provide personal scheduling help, and answer any questions.
  • Invitation to the Filmmakers Celebration and Awards Event (RSVP Required to Attend)
  • Free screenings, panels, talks, etc. as listed in the festival schedule.

Virtual ONLY Experience Pass includes: 

  • ACCESS to ALL VIRTUAL FILM SCREENINGS AND EVENTS: Exceptions: Films with geographic restrictions and audience caps.
  • Invitation to Special Pre-Festival Virtual meeting to share festival happenings, provide personal scheduling help, and answer any questions.

  • Eventive Help Desk for any troubleshooting issues

A Five Block Pass includes the following:

Bring the whole crew to the #ExperienceCulture at the Denton Black Film Festival starting at the TEC Expo- The designated meet up point for the Denton Black Film Festival. Special appearances by Miss Black Texas USA, Aryana Bosh.

The Denton Black Film Festival TEC Expo is a 2 day technology expo that brings together technology providers, developers, brands, marketers, gaming designers, innovators, advocates, and evangelists looking to set the pace in the advanced world of technology. The Expo will showcase the next generation of technology & innovation in Film, AI, VR, XR, Immersive Technologies. A major emphasis will be on businesses owned, operated, and catering to people of color and women. Student day is Friday!
