With a town as musical as ours, you never have to look far for a great artist or band.

In fact, there’s often tunes around every corner. From free lawn concerts to evenings of wine and jazz, here’s where you can find some terrific music without worrying about pricey tickets or a cover charge.

Denton Blues Fest (September 15 and September 16)

The Denton Black Chamber of Commerce puts on a beautiful blues fest at Quakertown Park each fall. Arts, crafts, food and the blues are all available in droves, as musicians from across DFW and beyond descend upon Denton for a weekend of family friendly fun. This year’s Blues Fest headliners include Big Bill Morganfield, Carolyn Wonderland, Muddy Water’s Review, Selwyn Birchwood and Zach Harmon.

Geezerpalooza (Oct. 20, 1-8 pm on Industrial Street)

The classics are the classics for a reason. This fest pays homage to the timeless tunes of the 60s and 70s in an all-day extravaganza on Industrial Street. Best of all: your admission to this truly awesome tribute is completely free.

Twilight Tunes (Thursdays in October, free admission)

Like music? Like FREE music? Thursdays in October feature a FREE concert on the Square, with music stylings ranging from country, pop, blues and alternative on the marquee.

Live Jazz at Wine Squared (Tuesdays at 7 p.m., free admission)

Relax with a glass of wine and some tunes by the Jesse Myers Trio.

Live Jazz at Paschall Bar (Sundays at 9 p.m., free admission)

Class things up every Sunday night with a delicious handmade cocktail and smooth jazz from the Mike Luzecky Trio. Half the fun of Paschall Bar is finding the speak-easy style spot, which is up the second staircase above Andy’s Bar

Open Mics and Karaoke Nights

Want to try your hand at it yourself? Check out these weekly Open Mics, Karaoke sessions and vinyl nights! While some are open to all ages, some of the trivia nights may be restricted to 21-and-up.
