The Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) is pleased to announce the Discover Denton team won the “People’s Choice” Idea Fair awards in the $1 million to $2,999,999 million budget category. The award recognized the CVB with the best Convention Promotion campaign for 2018. The Denton CVB was pleased to accept the award during TACVB’s Annual Conference in Denton on August 15, 2019. TACVB’s Idea Fair recognizes excellence in destination marketing. Goals of the Idea Fair awards are to generate awareness of the quality work done by TACVB members as they promote their destinations to leisure and convention business.
During the annual conference, Creative Marketing Manager Wendy Haun was also awarded her Texas Destination Marketer certification. The TDM program is administered by the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus and serves as an educational framework for marketing Texas as a destination for both tourism and group business. The program provides a structure for continuing professional development and is offered to tourism and hospitality professionals. Candidates who earn and receive six (6) certificates including the Texas Heritage/Cultural Tourism discipline and attend the Destination Marketing Principles Seminar will be awarded the TDM Designation and recognition at the TACVB Annual Conference.
Meeting Sales Manager Erin Wilson also recently received her Certified Meeting Professional certification. The CMP program was launched in 1985 by the Events Industry Council to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession and advance uniform standards of practice. Today, the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education and a rigorous exam.
