Denton's orchestra, the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, has an amazing concert event coming up on Saturday, February 1. Viva la Tango will showcase the music of Astor Piazzolla, featuring Jeff Bradetich playing the double bass. There will also be a dancing demonstration by Creative Tango during intermission.
According to the Odysseus website: A revolutionary of Tango music, Piazzolla recreated this genre by fusing classical and jazz elements, which earned the name, NUEVO TANGO. A prelude to a romantic Valentines Day, the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra and world-renowned soloist Mr. Jeff Bradetich will showcase Piazzolla's beloved masterpieces; Sinfonietta for Chamber Orchestra, Obivion, Adios Nonino, Contrbajissimmo, Libertango and Contrabajaendo.
Odysseus Chamber Orchestra and Conductor Jason Lim recently won third place in the American Prize Professional Orchestra Competition! They support music in Denton and the surrounding community by inviting select students to perform with them. Come out and support this wonderful group of musicians!
Tickets can be purchased in advance here and are $10 for students, $15 for general admission. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. and will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Locust.
