Between the Shades, Directed by Jill Salvino

Sexuality and gender can be fluid, but in a world obsessed with labels how do we identify? Between the Shades tackles the complexities of labeling sexuality. It is an insightful look at the power labels have on our perceptions of each other and ourselves. Do they box us in or do they provide us with freedom?

Director Jill Salvino uses a diverse cast of everyday people to express the importance of understanding preferences. For some LGBTQIA, labels can be damaging, whereas for others it is liberating. Above all, this film is about learning to accept people for who they are, not what they are.

In our current social climate, Between the Shades is an extremely important film. It is perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about LGBTQIA, or simply trying to identify. These honest and heartfelt stories will touch your heart and better your understanding of the struggles that many undergo.

Empathizing with one another, is an essential part of treating people equally. Whether you are black, white, gay, straight, or trans, the right to exist is yours. Between the Shades is everything we need right now. It will force you to question how you perceive yourself and those around you.

Purity, Directed by Pedro Vikingo

Purity, is the story of trans children on the path to self-discovery. Like adults, they want love, acceptance and free expression. The wholesomeness of their virtue and understanding, even in adolescence, will soften even the cruelest of hearts.

Through the tears, laughs, and occasional crushes director Pedro Vikingo reminds us that when we fully embrace our identities, we become the best versions of ourselves.
