Mayor Burroughs Issues Friendly Challenge to Las Vegas Mayor for Upcoming Heart of Dallas Bowl Game
Upcoming City Council meetings in Las Vegas and Denton will come with a bit more anticipation, laying the focus of attention on attire. The upcoming Heart of Dallas Bowl game has Mayor Mark Burroughs excited and ready to extended a friendly challenge to Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, City of Las Vegas, NV, home of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels. The University of North Texas (UNT) will play against the UNLV rebels on January 1, 2014 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX and both Mayors are eager to show support for their teams.
Accepting the challenge, Mayor Goodman agrees to wear a UNT Mean Green t-shirt at the next Las Vegas City Council meeting should the Bowl game end with a North Texas win. In return, should UNLV win, Mayor Burroughs will appear at Denton’s next City Council meeting with a UNLV Rebels t-shirt .
One ironic and funny coincidence that will take place around the game and fun spirited challenges is the actual changing of spirit wear. President Smatresk of UNLV is the UNT President-elect to succeed President V. Lane Rawlins in February 2014. “We are looking forward to seeing UNT in the Heart of Dallas Bowl Game. I could not be more proud of our Mean Green team and am confident that UNT will win this game, providing Dr. Smatresk an even greater welcome to our Mean Green community,” Mayor Burroughs said.
Both sides will be eager to see plenty of images of either Mayor at the next City Council meeting. Though here in Denton, we are sure a Mean Green shirt will find its way to Las Vegas. Go Mean Green!
