The Greater Denton Arts Council presents Dance With Life – Works In Fiber by Brenda J. Bunten‐Schloesser, opening in the Gough Gallery on November 17, 2013.
Bunten‐Schloesser’s work is a representation of the dance with life and the world that surrounds us. She invites the viewer to observe the delicate dance between humans and our surroundings, connected by every single thing.
Dance With Life is a body of work comprised of unique collages made from painted cotton using fiber‐reactive dye, then pieced together into organic shapes and images. She states that fiber is her preferred medium because of its unique properties and ability to convey her story. "Fiber has a life of its own. As in life, working in fiber presents the element of surprise and often times results in a change of course. Each finished piece has a presence to it, a weight, and a natural feeling of being."
The exhibition will open with a reception on Sunday, November 17, 2013, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The artist will be in attendance.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
The Center for the Visual Arts is located at 400 E. Hickory Street, Denton, Texas, 76201.
