Every year, Father’s Day Weekend sees the Denton Airport’s 6,000 foot runway become a stage for some of the most fascinating aerial daredevils, stunt pilots and precision flight teams in the United States.
Denton AirFair, Inc., and the Denton Airport are proud to present the 2011 Denton Air Show on June 18. This year's much anticipated event will feature two of the best single-ship demonstration teams: the US Air Force F-16 Viper West Demo Team and the US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet Legacy Flight Demonstration with Ray Kinney in a F4U Corsair. Civilian performers will include Julia and Tony Wood in their Russian SU-26M and Pitts S2C, Mike Gallaway in the Extra 300S, Kate Kyer in her Pitts S2C, Jan Collmer in his Extra 300L, Andrew Wright in his Giles 202, Scott Lane in his Pitts S2B, and numerous warbird demonstrations and flight formations. Performers from as far away as California and Utah will be coming to Denton for this world-class aviation event produced by David Schultz Airshows LLC.
Do you harbor a burning question only a stunt pilot can answer? “Breakfast with the Pilots” is a great opportunity to mingle with show performers and take pictures. This event starts at 9 a.m. on the day of the show at Business Air Center with all proceeds benefiting Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton.
There are even a few opportunities for lucky spectators to soar with the eagles thanks to Greatest Generation Aircraft. Flights will be available in the B-25 Bomber “Pacific Prowler” and the C-47/DC-3 “Southern Cross.” These flights are by reservation only. Call (817) 659-9249 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Longhorn Helicopter will also be offering rides. And for everyone else preferring to keep their feet on the ground, there will be plenty of static aircraft displays, including military and antique planes, vendors, food pavilion and beer garden.
VIP service is available by reserving a “chalet” spot. A $25 reservation will guarantee shade for your tent, a prime viewing position, and your pre-packed cooler iced down for your arrival if you deliver it the day before take-off. Only chalet guests may bring in their own food and drinks. For reservations, contact Amanda Addington email@example.com.
Advance Air Fair tickets are only $5, available until June 16 at all PointBank locations, Business Air Center, US Aviation and the Denton Airport Terminal office. Tickets will be $8 at the gate.
